I truly believe that sometimes it’s the easiest things that end up being the hardest to accomplish. One of those things, in cooking, is the egg. Doesn’t matter how you want to cook it, I think there are specific times that need to be adhered to or you are not going to be happy with the results.
I’ve already discussed Sunny Side Up Eggs, and today I’m going to hit up hardboiled eggs. We like to make breakfast recipes, salads, and other concoctions (like our Deviled Eggs – coming soon) with hardboiled eggs, so it’s important to know how to cook one properly.
Recipe: Paleo Hardboiled Eggs
- Organic, Pastured, Free Range, Cage Free Eggs
- Line a large pot with organic free-range, cage-free eggs – they should be in one layer, not one on top of the other.
- Cover the eggs with water (you want about an inch of water to cover the eggs)
- Put the pot on the stove and turn the heat to high.
- When it boils, turn the heat to low and cook for 2 additional minutes.
- Then turn the heat off and put the lid on the pot. Do not move the pot from the burner.
- Let sit for 12 minutes, covered, then drain the water out and fill with cool water.
- Once the eggs are cool enough to hold, they are ready to peel and eat!
