Paleo Sweet & Spicy BBQ Sauce, A Marinade

This Paleo Sweet & Spicy BBQ Sauce is made with our Paleo Ketchup, mustard, coconut aminos, coconut vinegar and sesame oil, and spiced with garlic powder, chili powder, paprika, onion powder, and dried ancho and arbol chili peppers. It tastes good on everything (that we’ve tried!) and is very versatile. It’s also thick, which Angel really likes for grilling, as he doesn’t have make as much of a sloppy mess! Keep in mind that when you make this sauce, it is thick and a little goes a long way. This makes enough sauce for about 6-8 people…or 4 to 6 hungry game-watching men!

Well, this past weekend was Memorial Day and we just had such a great weekend. A lot of relaxing and hanging out with friends is never a bad weekend! We even got some sun (sad that we don’t get more sun, being that we live so close to the ocean!). In honor of this past holiday, we’re posting a BBQ sauce recipe today. I know a little late, but better than never!!

Recipe: Paleo Sweet & Spicy BBQ Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Paleo Ketchup
  • 1 Tbsp Stoneground Mustard
  • 3 Tbsp Coconut Aminos
  • 2 Tbsp Coconut Vinegar
  • 2 Tbsp Maple Syrup
  • 1 ½ tsp ground Chili Powder
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1 tsp ground Paprika
  • 1 tsp Onion Powder
  • 1 dried Ancho Chili Pepper
  • 3 dried Arbol Chili Peppers
  • 1/3 cup Olive Oil
  • ½ tsp Sesame Oil

Instructions

  • De-seed and de-stem the peppers. The more seeds you leave in, the hotter this barbecue sauce will be…word to the wise. Place the Paleo Ketchup, stoneground mustard, coconut aminos, coconut vinegar, maple syrup, chili powder, garlic powder, paprika, onion powder, peppers, olive oil and sesame oil in a food processor or blender and go nuts. Just blend away until everything looks well incorporated.
  • Best of all? No cooking! You can use this immediately and its thick and delicious!
