This Paleo Homemade Turkey Gravy is perfect for our Paleo Thanksgiving Feast over our Paleo Mashed No-Tatoes! Really, the best is when you can make your own, so that is what we are posting today. Our last and final Thanksgiving recipe of the year! …unless the mood strikes me and I find some extra time between now and tomorrow!! The only trick is to make a slurry first before adding the arrowroot powder into the chicken juices. If you just dump the arrowroot in, it will clump up, so mix it in a smaller bowl with some juices until incorporated.
I hope that you all enjoy the recipes that we’re pulled together this year – its been a lot of trial and error, but I think we really got some great ideas. If we didn’t hit everything that you had in mind, be sure to drop us an email or visit us on facebook to request. It’s hard to remember to take the time to make them all!
Paleo Homemade Turkey Gravy
Drippings from cooking our Paleo Oven-Roasted Turkey
Reserve 2 Tbsp Drippings from cooking our Paleo Oven-Roasted Turkey
2 Tbsp Arrowroot Powder
Optional: one sprig Rosemary and one sprig of Thyme
This recipe is so easy. You just collect the drippings from the bottom of the pan from where you cooked your Paleo Oven-Roasted Turkey and put it in a saucepan. If you like to have one constant consistency, blend it up in a Bullet first.
Heat the drippings over medium-high (~7) heat.
Mix together the arrowroot and reserved turkey drippings and stir until incorporated. Slowly add this slurry to the drippings while stirring over the heat. You can add a little at a time until the desired texture is achieved. (The arrowroot will not change the flavor, but will thicken the drippings into gravy. If you don’t mind thin gravy, you don’t need to add this at all).
If you like a little more spiced gravy, add the bundles of spices, turn the oven burner down to medium (~5) heat, and let cook, uncovered, for another 5 minutes – then strain the sprigs and serve!
Makes between 2 & 4 cups
Goes perfectly with our Thanksgiving feast – Paleo Oven Roasted Turkey, Paleo Cranberry Sauce, Paleo Sweet Potato Casserole, Paleo Celery & Herb Stuffing, Paleo Mashed No-Tatoes, Paleo Pecan Pie, & Paleo Pumpkin Pie!
