Paleo Honeycrisp Sautéed Apples, A Low-Calorie Filling for Apple Pie

So our air conditioner broke a little while back and thank goodness the weather is cooling off. Chance is loving this, because we have the doors open – which allows him to “play” with the kitty that lives next door. He’s about to have a panic attack because he can’t get through the fence! But in a good way…I think its time for a walk!

This recipe for sautéed apples is sweet and delicious. We’ll post an apple pie recipe that uses this recipe and its really great aside from our Sweet Potato Casserole, which is also a crowd pleaser.

Sautéed Apples

1 Honeycrisp Apple

¼ cup Apple Cider (we like to use Woodchuck Fall) or Apple Juice or Water

pinch Allspice

2 Tbsp Coconut Crystals (or raw Sugar)

2 tsp Arrowroot Powder

Peel the skin off the apple and then dice it. Add all ingredients into a saucepan over medium heat and cook covered for 5 minutes. You will want to stir occasionally until done.

NOTE** If you use water instead of cider, you will want to add a pinch of cinnamon and nutmeg.

This recipe goes great in our Sweet Potato Casserole; or try it with our Vanilla Ice Cream!
